Bacteria
Bacteria is a single-celled organism. Bacteria is broken down into four major groups: spherical, rod, threads, and spirals. There are differences between bacteria and the other domains. Bacteria does not have a nuclear envelope, membrane-enclosed organelles. It does contain a peptidoglycan in cell wall and has membrane lipids. Bacteria constitute a large domain of prokaryotic microorganisms. Most bacteria may be placed into one of two groups based on their response to oxygen. Aerobic bacteria live in the presence of oxygen and require it for growth and existence. Other bacteria are anaerobic, and cannot tolerate gaseous oxygen, such as those bacteria which live in deep underwater sediments. There are very interesting facts about bacteria.
1.) The bacteria found in yogurt has been found to help prevent plaque from sticking to teeth.
2.) Bacteria helps ferment the beans used for making chocolate and coffer, but the bacteria themselves do not show up in the final product.
3.) Bacteria is used to help preserve food from vegetables such as cucumbers and cabbage to meats. Bacteria are even useful in helping make sauces such as soy sauce.
4.) Bacteria are used to make wine as well as vinegar, which wine that has been allowed to ferment longer than wine.
